Former Clemson standout signs 1-year deal in China

by - Assoc. Editor -

Former Clemson standout Trevor Booker has a new basketball home.

Booker announced Wednesday on Twitter that he is off to play in China for the Shanxi Brave Dragons of the Chinese Basketball Association.

"Although I know I belong in the NBA, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be heading to China this upcoming season," Booker posted. "The summer didn’t pan out as I hoped, but I assure you that I’ll be back on an NBA floor terrorizing people again soon enough."

Booker received reported interest this offseason from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and Minnesota Timberwolves but obviously, none of those teams signed him.

According to HoopHype's Alex Kennedy, Booker signed a one-year deal worth $2 million plus incentives. It's very plausible that Booker finishes his season overseas and is picked up by a contending team looking for a boost in the NBA playoffs.

Booker averaged 6.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game last season. For his NBA career, he averaged 6.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest.

He was drafted as the No. 23 pick overall in the first round of the 2010 NBA draft.
