Former Clemson standout signs with Thunder

CLEMSON, S.C. – Former Clemson University men’s basketball player K.J. McDaniels was signed by Oklahoma City, announced by the team on Sunday.

McDaniels, a four-year NBA veteran, averaged 5.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 14.1 minutes per contest as a member of the Houston Rockets in 2016.

Last season, McDaniels played in the NBA G-League as a member of the Grand Rapids Drive, playing in 31 games and averaging 16.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and nearly 1.2 steals per game. He added in 1.3 blocks in 27.4 minutes per game, while shooting 48.7 percent from the field.

During the summer of 2018, McDaniels played in the Summer League as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers – earning championship game MVP honors. McDaniels turned in 17 points and seven rebounds in a valiant effort, including many highlight reel plays to lead the Blazers to the Summer League title.

McDaniels now joins former Tiger Donte Grantham in Oklahoma City.
