Due to Covid. Only played 13 conference games.
Committee knew the 3rd place thing was not a big deal.
They had a good season and made the tournament. But neither one of us are in a position to argue for better seeds

I know it's fashionable to think that if you win a conference tournament, you get some big jump in your seeding, but that just doesn't happen automatically. Georgia Tech won TWO games to win the tournament. They didn't help themselves by beating Miami. They did get a win over Florida State; however, that doesn't improve their resume nearly the same as the three wins they could have had, which would have been neutral court wins over Clemson, Virginia and Florida State. THAT is what gives them the seeding jump. On the other hand, they lost to Georgia State and Mercer...those games count too. Georgia Tech simply doesn't have the amount of quality wins on their schedule to offset those horrible early-season losses.

upset at all. VT feasted on teams towards the bottom of the league with the exception of you guys and UVa, two really good wins. The Villanova win didn't hurt us since it came when 'Nova was at full strength and top 5 early in the season. No losses below quad 2 helped VT, too. The covid breaks hurt VT, but I don't think their seed is unjustified at all. I'm not sure why Clemson's seed matters to VT fans. Like someone said, if anyone had a gripe from the ACC, it would be GT, but those two quad 4 losses at the beginning of the year really drug them down.
I personally am ecstatic with VT's draw. UF is a winnable game and then just take the gloves off and let it go against Ohio State in the second round. At that point there is nothing to lose but everything to gain.
As far as Clemson's seed, all I got to say is congratulations. Hope we both are still around the second weekend.
