Serious Basketball strategy question

Mar 10, 2021, 4:18 PM

I don't follow basketball much, but I'm looking online and Miami has only played 7, but none have many fouls. Why wouldn't Clemson pound the ball inside and often against an underhanded team? Are they taller or something?

"Pound the ball inside" isn't really included in the 2020's brand of basketball...like anywhere...not just with our team. The analytics favor spreading the floor offensively, having five guys who can make threes, and getting open layups/dunks, usually via back cuts, or three point shots (in half court sets).

Ah, ok. Yeah, I guess it has been a long time since I followed it...!

Thanks for the answer. I knew there had to be a reason.

You certainly can do that. Even with the 3 pt line, shot clock etc . . you can still pound inside, if that is your game.

Inside game worked pretty well for the Canestoday.

Looked like the Canes had at least two 7 footers playing. That = do not pound it inside often.
