the last decade. They have made it in 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. They won their conference all of those years.
They were down in 2019-2020 but that was an anomaly.
Pitino isn’t stupid, he knew he was taking over a very good situation.
He’s an excellent coach and has done a good job there this year, but let’s not act like he took over a dumpster fire and worked miracles.

Yeah Cluess stepped down due to health issue right before the 19/20 season and had an assistant fill in with meh results. So Iona wan't like Iona was an immediate rebuild. Yeah, stepping into a stronger power within the Metro Atlantic was a no-brainer. Kinda like stepping into Winthrop from the Big South or Belmont in the Ohio.
However, Iona wasn't that great in the season 8-5 or didn't have much of one, the long covid break and really then was a situation to finally play everyone until the end. So Sienna matchups till the tourney, etc. So can the swinging "investigation" coach - yup but that should be no surprise.
