No one can tell me GT is more talented & deeper than Clemson

GT is NOT more talented and does NOT have a deeper bench than Clemson.
Yet, here they are...ACC Champs. After dropping games to Mercer and GA St in December, Coach Pastner got them playing great at the right time.
We've regressed mightily from how we were playing in December. Many of us including me are bracing ourselves for another one and done in NCAAT. This team has a troubling lack of grit to put teams away when they are up and to come back when they are down.
Well coached, gritty teams elevate their play in March. GT did that. When will Clemson basketball do that?

Maybe you need to be reminded they beat us by double digits in Atlanta, and we needed a 3 point bank shot to beat them after trailing most of the game at home. P.S.you will probably tell me you don't need reminding but just the same..

Along with a dynamic point guard/defender.
Gotta have balance in scoring, which opens up both inside and out. IMO anyway.

If we finish under .500 and don’t make a regional, let alone get out of regional it is time to go. I hope this is his last year. We need a coach that doesn’t blindly look to data without understanding situational baseball at the helm. Exit velo and swinging for the fences every pitch works for MLB when players are that level of good, when you swing and miss more than you contact velo doesn’t matter.

Their best 5 players are more talented than our best 5.

Their best player is more talented than our best player.
We have more depth, however.
There is a reason they beat us handily in Atlanta and we barely beat them at home. The answer lies in the info I posted above.

"The Guy". That one guy who can elevate a team of pretty good players into a very good/great team. Clemson football without Tajh Boyd, Deshaun Watson, Trevor Lawrence... well, they're just OK, slightly above average. Maybe win 10 games in a weak ACC, but nothing close to a nat'l title.
We never have that guy who might go off for 30 points, or "put the team on his back" for a few games.

Unless you count Skip Wise, and he was only here 1 year.
Facilities help, as do coaching continuity. You know, the things that helped us get Deshaun, Trevor, etc.
Winning obviously helps too, which is why making two of the last three NCAA Tournaments will help our recruiters on the recruiting trail.

We have had a lot of them actually who we could count on. I think he is just meaning a go to guy. Right now we have a deep team, but not a go to guy. This team is that one go to guy away from being really good.

pull in just one kid. Just one. It's so much much harder in football; you nee a solid OL, DL, some LBs & DBs, WRs, RBs, etc. 22 players, and double that for just for a tad of depth. That's 44 minimum. A great QB is just the cherry on top. In basketball, all you need is about 5 or 6 guys, and one great player. In 50 years, it would seem like we would luck into one...

They are more talented and not as deep. Pretty simple. If a non biased observer watched our two games during the season, they would say GT was the better team. We lost by 18 the first game and won on a buzzer beater bank shot. Why are you so convinced that we have more talent?
They have the ACC player of the year on their team and he’s surrounded with talent and experience. Their starting 5 consists of 3 seniors and 2 juniors. They were the most experienced starting 5 in the ACC.

Great point. People here forget that we aren’t a veteran team.

Seniors (3): Simms, Trapp, Baehre Juniors (2): Tyson, Newman Sophomores (4): Dawes, Hunter, Honor, Hemenway Freshmen (3): Prosper, Hall, Kidd
Over half of our team this year are freshmen and sophomores.
I really think we will be in good shape next year.

The goal is to have balanced classes.
If the juniors and seniors were better players, they would be playing more and the freshman and sophomores less.
I don't see where we lose anything irreplaceable other than Sims, but if the younger players don't improve significantly next year with be a borderline NIT year.

Were anamolies. Not sure what the deal was...but who knows if they had even practiced. If you look at their season overall...they were good...and have hit another level down the stretch. GT had to wade through some NCAA wrist slaps....but like most, are not really facing the punishment for their crimes. Their first unit is very talented though...not sure why people think they aren’t....probably the best starting group in the league. Their weakness is depth...but they caught a break with not having to play 3 in a row. Clemson has had a good season. Not sure why the pile on continues. Let’s see what happens in the NCAA tourney that we actually are getting to play in this season.

You are in denial. They beat us and they are champs. While we lost to a team with 6 players! Dont start sounding like a coot! They are better than us and they have the better coach period!

I don't know, we did well in March 2018... and it is funny that Brad Brownell has never had a one-and-done in the NCAA tourney.
You really can draw too much with this Tourney - it was odd. GT "won" by winning two games. Good for them but don't focus on it. If there was a team that would benefit from that, it would be Tech this year. GT's is extremely talented, got hot late and their last loss was to Brownell - and we outplayed them in a tight game. Not only that, they do struggle more with deeper teams and really did not have to face a deep team. We know that Miami isn't deep and FSU tends to play their five... but they greased the ball with butter and could not find a guard to handle the ball. GT did not play that well but well enough to win. You don't get a lot of games whereby the opponent gifts turnovers as many times as you make a basket. GT generates a lot of those but any Clemson basketball observer should know that in the Tourney, you can't rely on forced turnovers and poor shooting... right Oliver?
Next, we did not regress, wer were 6-2 down the stretch. We ran into a Miami team having an extremely good day. We did not play poorly, but the difference was two turnovers against a team having one of the best games of their season.

GT has more talent than we do. Pastner did it in 5 years. CBB is in year 11. But Atlanta is a more attractive place to recruit to than Clemson. However Clemson/Greenville is much much better than Blacksburg/Roanoke. (I am from Roanoke and live in Greenville.)

Pastner is not a good recruiter. I think you will find most of his players came through the portal, but he still got them to come to GT, so kudos to him. I think we have proved time and time again that our 12 pretty players are not as valuable as 3 good players and 3 or 4 role players.
I am proud of Coach Brownell, whom I like, and our players, but let's not get confused as to how good of a team we are ..... which is pretty good!

I can tell you they are. They have the ACC player of the year and Defensive Player of the year. Just because you have more depth does not make you better. Its quality or quantity. Its not even close. Better coach too.
