A case for being patient

Mar 30, 2021, 9:55 PM

After 14 years at FSU, Leonard Hamilton had gone to the NCAA Tourney 4 times. Two one and dones, one 1-1 and one Sweet 16. His teams finished around the middle of the ACC most seasons, sometimes in the upper third.

Years 15-19 resulted in 4 straight NCAA appearances. Two Sweet 16 one Elite 8 and one 1-1. An ACC title and two 2nd place finishes.

Not sure what, if anything major, changed at FSU other than the football program cratering, but sometimes patience pays off.

Sorry but my patience ran out when the assistant coach and 3 players left the program

Which three players?

Newman, Prosper, and who else?

Also, losing players to transfer is quite common now. There are about 75 teams that have 5 or more players in the transfer portal this year.

The assistant coach who left got a promotion at another school. Plus, he wanted to be closer to his wife’s father, who has some serious health challenges.

It feels like you’re really reaching for a reason to stop supporting the team.

Exactly.

Plus- there are literally hundreds of teams that did not win a postseason game.

That makes me feel better.

John Wooden went to the NCAA tourney 3 times in his first 13 years at UCLA.... 2nd year, 4th year and 8th year and then it clicked by his 14th.

No coach should ever be fired in his first 14-15 years...

Just in case he’s the next John Wooden.

Fingers crossed that our patience with Brad will pay off.
