Versus Miami today

Mar 10, 2021, 7:32 AM

I hope our defense is ready to go right from the beginning.

Clemson has much deeper bench...

so hopefully Miami will be a bit gassed after yesterdays game. Let's make them run the entire game and wear them out.

Of course, Clemson has to make its shots and avoid these lengthy scoring droughts.

Miami only played 7 players yesterday

All starters played at least 33 minutes. Hopefully they will be gassed in the 2nd half.

I think that because they have played yesterday, they will come back with high energy in the beginning and we will need to match them, especially on the defensive end even if the shots are not falling. I also think that they may slow down just a bit on defense in the second half because of yesterday's game.

Hopefully we have a strategy to create shots that we can make.

I think that would really be helpful.

My guess is that Miami will play a zone defense...

and force Clemson to move the ball and really attack the gaps or penetrate and kick it to a 3-point shooter.

IF we can shoot the ball like we did in against Miami in Clemson, we'll be fine.

Miami and Clemson are both incredibly inconsistent shooting the ball.

Also go to look at Miami only plays 6 scholarship players. We should cover today.

We beat them twice this season, including a win just 10 days ago. We should be fine.
I worry more about the game tomorrow vs GTach.

TNT Today not Tomorrow

Always focus on the about the team you face today rather than the team you face tomorrow.

Jim can still coach and in a lot of situations keep his team close enough to give them a shot.

Yes! And drive the ball for shots and potential foul. With a short bench fouls are
a premium.

We also need to avoid turnovers when going up against their zone defense. Playing Baehre on the low post may be effective although I assume that Simms will be at that position most of the time. It just seems that it is easier to get the ball into Baehre than to Simms when they are on the low post. Baehre is pretty accurate with his jump shot in the paint area. Also, Simms plays really well when he is on the high post. We shall see; I am sure that Coach BB has it all figured out.
