Ol' Roy has said that losing to us last year was the lowest

Apr 1, 2021, 4:54 PM

point of his coaching career (at least, per the Twits on Twitter). If that is true, he doesn't have a whole bunch of respect for Brad Brownell, does he?

He and his players from last season have now got to live the rest of their life knowing that they were the first team to ever lose to Clemson in Chapel Hill which is just fine with me and that that long 59 game winning streak is over and that they were the cause of it,sucks for them when they have to go back to Basketball reunions and people remember that as one of the low points

They should have fired Roy on the spot after that loss.

So glad we bet ol' roy, and the feet. This year they only scored 50 on us. Roy was a disciple of Dean Smith and as a NC reisdent it was always sweet when they got beat by us or anyone. I would pull for them 2 times...if they played china or iran.

That just speaks to the magnitude of the streak - it really

was one of the more incredible steaks in sports.

It absolutely is true that Roy Williams said it was the lowest point for him.

You’re taking it out of context. He blamed himself for a coaching error. He felt bad for the players because of his mistake. In no way was he disparaging Clemson or Bead Brownell. It was a humble admission of his own error. That’s it. Nothing more.

I didn't take it out of context--just posted the article for reference.

Ok I see what you did. I apologize. It was a low point because he screwed up and he’s tough on himself. Definitely not a low point because of who the opponent was.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would feel the same if I contributed to one of Brownell’s crowning achievements as a coach***

That was my point. He obviously did not think we were a good

Apr 2, 2021, 10:55 AM

team, or being coached well, or losing to us in Chapped Hole would not have been the lowest of lows.

Did any of you actually listen to what Roy said? Good grief.

I doubt anyone on here listens to Roy

Apr 3, 2021, 7:07 AM

Or cares what he says

But you keep on posting on this site about the Tarheels

I’m just asking people to listen and hear the context of what Roy said. Why don’t you try that? Yes, I graduated from UNC but I have more Clemson connections than you know. I’m not just some random guy trying to take over your board. Just having a conversation.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Brownell would be better @UNC than Roy would be @CU

Apr 2, 2021, 11:12 AM

Roy has never had to chase a recruit in his entire career. Kansas and UNC gave him almost 50 future NBA players to work with.

Would love to see how he would do trying to get those players to come to Clemson.

Kiss my butt Roy. Enjoy retirement.

Wild take, perhaps research and learn more before commenting like that. He spent EVERY summer with his boys in Vegas where they would take in a ton of hoop at the biggest AAU tournaments, then go golf, then more hoop, every day. All that man did was recruit, they would leave Vegas and do the same thing at all the other big AAU spots every year.... You don't have to like him but he was great, like most people who are great at what they do, because they work non-stop to be great.

His lowest point should have been having his players sign up for a no attendence. He should have been hung up by his toes by the NCAA.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He promoted it

Roy has coached a few prior to Brad so I’m guessing he is reflecting on the Clemson program as a whole.

If not telling the team to foul in the last

Apr 3, 2021, 8:28 AM

Few seconds with a 3 point lead is such a career- ending error - how did UNC get to take TWO 3-pointers in the last possession of OT with us up by 3? Obviously our team wasn’t told to foul?

Or were we up less than 3 & finally rebounded & made a FT ?

Difference in coaching philosophy I guess. Obviously Brad was right.
