Paulsen was hitting just .108 with 12 strikeouts in 37 spring-training at-bats. Last season in a September call-up, Paulsen hit .318 with four homeruns and 10 RBIs in 63 at bats.

In three years at Clemson, Paulsen batted .318 with 31 home runs, five triples, 34 doubles and 130 RBIs.
