Totally robbed there. Monte should have gotten tossed over that call... No way you can be out there. Even if he steps off. No sense. Umps should have corrected it.

That’s 100% on Brewer. I don’t care what the ump says, he saw that Hawkins had walked, so anyone who’s ever played baseball before knows they can’t be thrown out there.
It’s just total lack of baseball iq that’s a common theme under Monte Lee. It’s always something on the base paths with his teams that other teams don’t do. It’s frustrating.

In that situation, yes. You wait for the coach to come out because you know that there’s no way you can be out. It’s not like the ump was motioning over and over that he was out. He gave one out signal before he knew the player walked.
Clearly Monte knew his player was in the wrong because he didn’t argue at all. He was frustrated, but accepted what the ump said.

plate umpire, and ignore the second base umpire. When the runner takes off to second, he has one thing on his mind...get to second safely. I compare this to a runner in football going down, no whistle is blown, and he gets up and takes off downfield where he is promptly whacked be a defensive player, and one of the refs then blows a whistle for unncessary roughness. Players are not supposed to be players and not REFEREES OR UMPIRES.

He should have at least gone out there for an explanation. Not fiery enough and the baseball IQ comment is spot on. How do these kids play at such high levels and not know the game..
