All In Cookout Yields Big Returns

We all have our family cookouts and we all think we are part of the Clemson family, but Friday night's inaugural All In Cookout looked a little different than most.

When my family gets together, often times we have our grandmother there, but the nation's number one high school prospect never shows up. Several of my aunts and uncles usually come, but we never get to host the nation's top-ranked cornerback. We sometimes get to visit with my cousins who come over once a year from Belfast, Northern Ireland but never do we get visits from the nation's top-ranked junior quarterback.

It is safe to say that Dabo's All In Cookout looks different from your average family get together as well.

The event was hosted Friday night at the pavilion area at the Martin Inn and Madren Center. It drew some of the top prospects in the country and yielded great dividends according to early returns.

Clemson received two verbal commitments Friday. The first came from DeMarcus Robinson, a 6-2, 200-pound wide receiver from Peach County High School in Fort Valley, GA. Robinson is a four-star prospect who is ranked ninth overall in Georgia and 117th overall in the national rankings by rivals.com. Robinson selected Clemson over Florida. He also had offers from Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Miami, Oklahoma and Notre Dame among others.

Later Friday, the Tigers received their 14th commitment for next season from Tyshon Dye, a 6-0, 200-pound running back from Elbert County High School in Elberton, GA. Dye is ranked as the nation's 17th running back, the overall 204th player regardless of position and the 16th ranked player in Georgia according to rivals.com. The four-star prospect was also offered by Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, Nebraska, North Carolina, South Carolina, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Southern Cal.

The cookout may yield more commitments at a later date.

Wide receiver Mike Williams of Santee, SC is a 6-4, 185 pound four-star prospect that is ranked third in the state of South Carolina according to rivals.com. Williams went into the cookout favoring South Carolina but is now saying Clemson is his leader. He will announce his commitment July 31st and is down to Clemson and South Carolina.

Clemson moved in front of Florida State with Austin Droogsma a 305-pound guard from Gulf Breeze, FL. The three-star prospect is down to the Tigers and Seminoles and he is set to announce before his senior season begins.

The biggest uncommitted prospect at the cookout was the nation's top ranked cornerback in Kendall Fuller of Onley, MD. The nation's third-ranked overall prospect is a five-star talent that had offers from everyone that recruits the area. Fuller has family ties to Virginia Tech and is now down to Tech and Clemson.

DeMarcus Walker a 6-4, 285 pound defensive end from Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, FL. He is ranked as the 11th best defensive end, the 120th best overall in the nation and the 18th best prospect in Florida according to rivals.com. Walker is down to Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida and Tennessee.

In all, 12 of the 14 commitments Clemson currently has were in attendance Friday. DE Elijah Daniel of Avon, IN and TE Jordan Leggett of Navarre, FL were the only two current commitments that were not in attendance. The list of those that were included RB Tyshon Dye, RB Wayne Gallman, WR Demarcus Robinson, WR Ryan Jenkins, OL Maverick Morris, DE Robert Nkemdiche, DE Dane Rogers, LB Ben Boulware, LB Dorian O'Daniel, DB David Kamara, ATH D.J. Greenlee, DB Jadar Johnson and 2014 commitment QB DeShaun Watson.

I would expect Clemson to sign around 20 players in February with a large majority of those players in this past weekend. I think it is very safe to assume the event was the first in what should become an annual event at Clemson.

We can honestly sell family here and it seems like a no-brainer to continue what was started this weekend. It should be another key part of what Dabo SwinneyDabo Swinney
