Mickey,

Haven’t seen much chatter on Tre Lamar. How’s he looking healthwise and performance? What is LB first and second team gonna look like?

Thanks,

Luke

Lamar is healthy and looking good. Venables said, “Tre has established himself. Again, he was the starter a year ago, and he did not lose his job. He has done well. He has had a good summer. He is getting very confident and physical. He is playing fast. He looks good.”

They have huge expectations for him this season. He was having a great year last season before he got hurt in the FSU game.

Venables says they will play a lot of combinations and he has a lot of depth, but I think Lamar, Joseph, and Simmons will be the starters. I would say Chad Smith, J.D. Davis, James Skalski, Shaq Smith and Jalen Williams will play significant snaps, but their impact will be fluid throughout the season. I think the depth chart could change each game.

What's your thoughts on this year team? And player you think will have a monster year?

Gervonte

Gervonte,

This could be one of the best teams in school history. This may be the most talented team in school history. This team has to be considered one of the two best in the country. How about those expectations?

Concerning monster years, I think there are a lot of guys who could fit into that category, but two factors may hold some down. First, this team is very deep, and the staff could play so many players that it may be hard for some to have a monster year. Second, I think this team will blow out several opponents, and this means the starters will not play in the second half of several games.

I love the QBs, Etienne, Higgins, Ross, Renfrow, Rodgers, Kendrick, the DL, Lamar, Joseph, Simmons, Mullen, Terrell, Wallace, and McMichael. However, I am not sure any of those guys are locks to have monster years because of depth and blowouts might hold their numbers down.
