Mickey,

I read two articles today on TigerNet that made an impression on me. The first is from Tyler Upshaw. He was just offered by Clemson and was told he may have to gray shirt if a spot doesn't open up from a junior leaving early. What I love about this is Clemson's honesty and they don't over recruit. They take only what they need unlike other schools who just like to boast numbers. I think this speaks volume for our culture, which is a big reason for our success. Second is the comment by Nolan Smith. He says he is not big facilities guy because at some point the facilities get old, so make sure you are going to a school for the right reasons. Facilities are great, but this kid hit the nail on the head. You have to get past the glitz and get to what is real about the program. Beauty can get you in the door, but substance is what allows you to stay.

Stuart

Stuart,

You make two good points. The culture at Clemson couldn't be better right now. Dabo' s vision is in place, and his message is resonating. This program has never been in better shape.

Hi Mickey - I totally agreed with your baseball uni comment a week ago. I would love to see the Tigers in road gray with either a purple or an orange thin pinstripe. I think a home white uni with the same pinstripe would look sharp as well.

Why did the men's golf team have numbers on their shirts ? Was it to honor the football team ?

Any idea to what upgrades are being planned for the Valley before this season ? Possibly a new cover over the top of the scoreboard ?

Thank you

Jody

Jody,

I am going to pound this baseball uniform drum for a long time. They made a nice improvement with the cream unis this year. Pinstripes and classic grays on the way?

The uniform numbers in golf are something Nike started last year. I wasn't sure it was going to stick around but it appears we may see more of it.

I haven't heard any major plans for Death Valley, but I know they are exploring options to stay ahead of the curve.

Mickey,

Clemson baseball has received a good bit of attention this year because the season has been very successful but the idea of a national seed was probably put to rest with another miserable weekend sweep by Louisville. While we were at our daughter's Mother's Day weekend I was able to watch some of the games on their Apple TV (technology is great if you have it) and unfortunately, Louisville was the better team. Clemson has played very well this year but the clutch hitting just is not always there. Having the bases loaded with no outs and not scoring is simply horrible.

Monty Lee will bring Clemson back once he is able to have his players in place but somehow a jump start needs to happen this week. The schedule has been weak and being swept by the two best teams in the conference is not good. Any talk of a national seed was just wishful thinking and the truth now is that unless the ship is righted against NC State, the Tigers could wind up with as low as the 7 seed in the ACC Tournament. Early talk from the faithful and hopeful is cheap but pitching, hitting and fielding are priceless. The season starts this week and the dream of Omaha is still possible if the bats come alive.

Andy

Andy,

I agree with your assessment. This team is making crucial mistakes as of late, but part of that is the fact that UNC and Louisville are great teams and they make you pay for mistakes. Clemson made mistakes against Coastal on Tuesday, but Coastal wasn't good enough to take advantage.

I think this team has the ability but Williams' injury has hurt defensively and offensively. Crawford's illness and Miller's arm issue have hurt the depth in the bullpen. To me, the biggest issue is the bullpen. Hopefully, Crawford and Miller can come back and take pressure off of the rest of the bullpen. I still have hope for this team and season.
