Mickey Please tell me what you would do to fix Clemson basketball. Why is the administration so blind to the mediocre state under Brownell? Would you have changed coaches? Will Carolinas success force Drad's hand? Robert Robert, I think the administration has taken big steps with the facilities upgrade to Littlejohn. While I am sure the budget was too restrictive, I would have given very serious consideration to just building a new coliseum. I also would change the name. If it is a new building, then it needs a new name, a fresh new start. I would have given great consideration to a coaching change. Keep in we don't know the budget and what was available in the market. The biggest change has to be in the culture. I would make sure our program had positive leaders and a positive vibe. I would model a lot of what I see from Dabo and Monte Lee. We have to change the culture first and foremost. Finally, I do think your rival is important, and South Carolina's success in this tournament does increase the pressure on Brownell and his future. Mickey Your basketball article was undoubtedly, far and far away, the best article on Clemson sports I have ever read. It ain’t gonna happen until we can persuade a John Wooden type coach to come to Clemson, so maybe it won’t happen. Nonetheless, I think you really hit the nail on the head with this. Frank Frank, Thank you for the kind words. Almost every program in the country is defined by the leadership. I think you can win at Clemson. It is a hard job but it not an impossible job. It takes special leadership. Rick Barnes had the charisma and demanded toughness from his teams. Oliver Purnell had a brand. His teams were going to press you for 94 feet for 40 minutes. They were going to press you when you got off of the bus. The margin of error is small for Clemson basketball. You need some breaks. I would love to see the entire program have a culture change. The model would be what Dabo has in football, Monte Lee has in baseball, or Larry Penley has in golf. These are national powers, but they sell family and a positive love for their players. I think Brownell or the next coach at Clemson needs to showcase this positive energy. He needs to dream big and sell those big dreams. We need to demand the best from every program and EXPECT to win in every sport. It can happen. I have seen it and hope to live long enough to see it again.
