Mickey,

When will we give Dabo the raise he needs? I think Dabo should me making 4.5 Million a year... He is winning and making men off the field... You can't beat that... Running a very clean house.

Go Tigers!

Gervonte

Gervonte.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Dabo and his entire staff when it comes to contracts and raises. Dabo's contract runs through 2021, but I think it would be wise to get him a new deal in place soon. Dabo is Clemson's best investment. His current incentives will provide a healthy raise this year and beyond because the contract improves his base salary based upon performance this season. However, I think we will see a new deal for him before next season. I will be very interested to see how the assistant coaches do with their new contracts as well. You are right when you mention their success. They are winning on the field and off of the field and deserve everything they get.

Mickey,

Alabama was having a hard time scoring against Clemson's half court defense. The Tigers had the ball with the momentum with a one point lead in the last minute of the game. Coach Brownell calls a timeout. Then Alabama steals the inbounds pass and gets an easy score. Once again Coach Brownell calls a timeout. We get off a lousy shot and lose. It looked like over coaching to me. At the very least, nothing productive came from the timeouts. What good is calling timeouts when we don't even get good shots out? Just let the guys play.

David

David,

This is one that easy to see with the benefit of hindsight. If the Tigers had scored, the fans would have loved the fact that he drew up a great plan. Since they didn't, he is criticized. Don't call a timeout and let them play and if it works then he is praised, but if it didn't work then some would ask why he didn't call a timeout? Again with the benefit of hindsight, it is easy to criticize. That game was lost in a lot of other areas. Clemson got pounded on the boards. It was embarrassing how bad Alabama outrebounded the Tigers.

Mickey,

Do you foresee any position changes this spring? Thanks.

Meg

Meg,

I thought about that recently and will write some more in-depth thoughts this spring. This staff gives guys every player a chance to stay at his desired position and shows patience. I have not heard of any plans but can see opportunities for potential moves. They have depth at wide receiver, maybe a guy like Shadell Bell could move to safety. They are loaded on the defensive line, maybe players like Gage Cervenka or Sterling Johnson could move to add depth on the offensive line. Korrin Wiggins could play safety or SAM when he comes back this spring. Tanner Muse could play either position as well. I could see Dorian O'Daniel playing SAM or WILL. I could see new kick returners and punt returners next season. Again, these are just a few ideas in my head, but I haven't heard of any plans for any of these guys.
