Mickey, Is it time for a change in leadership for the baseball team? With the loss to Coastal Carolina we are now below 0.500. I can't help but think that Jack LeggettJack Leggett Kindest Regards, Kirk Kirk, Jack Leggett is not going to bow out gracefully. I would be shocked if that happens. Jack's personality is to fight and scratch and claw for everything. That's what kind of player he was and what kind of coach he is. I would not count on him quietly riding off into the sunset. He is too competitive to follow that path. Mickey, I read your article about standards and I am the same way about Clemson basketball. Clemson players in the first ACC tournament in 1954 (I was 12 in Clemson elementary) and lost in the first round. Now 61 years later the futility continues. We loose in the first round again. In those 61 years we have lost in the first round 45 times(74%). I do not think my standards can get any lower. I hate to admit it but there is no wonder we cannot get any big time players to commit to our basketball program. Where is the coach Swinney type to turn us around and convince better players that Clemson is the place for them? I am at a low, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Tom Tom, Clemson football is obviously a different animal than Clemson basketball. However, I agree with your point and it really makes you appreciate where Clemson football is at this point. Mickey, I enjoyed your poke at the Clemson baseball program but as many programs in all sports proclaim, "why not us" or something to that effect. The simple answer is, baseball has passed Jack Leggett and his style by. High school baseball in South Carolina is excellent and to their credit, South Carolina won National Championships with many South Carolina kids on those teams. South Carolina won those titles by great hitting and great pitching, not by a running and bunting game that Leggett speaks of. The time has come to retire Jack Leggett and find a coach that can recruit and win because there is absolutely no reason that baseball at Clemson cannot be a championship program. The standard and expectation should be high and nothing less than that should be tolerated. Andy Andy, I think many would agree with you. Baseball Head Coach
View Full Profile is hanging in there hoping that he will somehow make it to Omaha one more time before bowing out gracefully. That has been the case for a few years now. Unfortunately, like Bobby Bowden, sometimes a coach is not able to realize they just are not getting the results the university needs. So, they have to be replaced.
