Wednesday football practice notes

by -

•Coach Swinney said after practice that freshman wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins “tweaked” a groin muscle in practice Wednesday and missed the second half of the practice. He should still be able to play against North Carolina on Saturday.

•David Smith went through some drills on Wednesday and has not been ruled out of Saturday’s game by Swinney. Smith suffered a high ankle sprain against Auburn on September 18 and has not played since. “We would like to go without him, but it would be nice to have him available. We will just have to see,” said Swinney.

•Spencer Adams has a bruised knee and is questionable for the North Carolina game.

•Clemson captains for the North Carolina game will be Miguel Chavis (Fayetteville, NC), Chris Hairston (Winston Salem, NC) and Marcus Gilchrist (High Point, NC).
