Clemson, SC—Clemson returned to the practice fields behind the Jervey Athletic Center for its first day of practice in preparation for the ACC Championship game against Georgia Tech Saturday night at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. The contest will be shown on ESPN at 8:00 PM.

The Tigers had a normal Monday practice for about 90 minutes as they worked to correct mistakes made in the loss to South Carolina this past Saturday. In speaking to his team Monday night Swinney put the importance of Saturday’s game with Georgia Tech in perspective.

“No Clemson team has won the ACC Championship since 1991,” said Swinney. “Back then there were only eight teams in the ACC. So this team has a chance to be the first to do it in a 12-team league. It would be a great accomplishment and something this team would be very proud of and it would bring pride to this school.

“But to accomplish that goal we have to work hard in practice all week. We are going to have a physical week of practice because it will be a physical game. We have to tackle very well against Georgia Tech. We can’t give up big chunks of yardage. We have to execute on offense.

“There is no game next week, so we need to leave everything on the field on Saturday night.”

Clemson was in good health on Monday at practice. There were no new injuries reported that would keep anyone out of the Georgia Tech game on Saturday.
