Auburn Not The Only Opponent Clemson Facing In Atlanta |
ATLANTA - Idle hands, according to the old saying, are the devil's workshop. So with free time for his football team becoming more abundant, Tommy Bowden is reminding his players about their expected conduct while in Atlanta for the Chick-Fil-A Bowl. The Tigers practiced for a second day Thursday in the Georgia Dome in preparation for Monday's matchup with Auburn. Afterwards, Bowden said the practice went reasonably well, but the usual distractions surrounding a bowl game are beginning to come into play. "The longer you stay at a bowl game the more chance there is to lose focus," he said. "It's completely different here, as opposed to being back on campus and preparing Saturday to Saturday." No activities scheduled for Thursday evening means the players are free until 1 a.m. The curfew will remain 1 a.m. until the night before the game, when it reverts back to midnight. So, after reminding the team of his expectations where their behavior in concerned, Bowden took an extra step. Just as Auburn did earlier, Bowden had hotel security and the Atlanta police both address the team regarding public behavior and areas/establishments which were off limits. Meanwhile, the daily questions surrounding the status of linebacker Cortney Vincent and offensive coordinator Rob Spence brought no new information. Bowden continues to say he has yet to make a decision regarding Vincent, though reports prior to Thursday indicated he (Vincent) has been working out with the first team - likely an indication he's going to play despite the DUI charge. As for Spence, was mum except to say that he wouldn't encourage his offensive coordinator to join the Vols if the offer was lucrative. "I want him here," he said.
