Incoming Tiger Basketball Player Named NC's Mr. Basketball

by -

CLEMSON -- Demontez Stitt, who last fall signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play basketball at Clemson, was named Mr. Basketball for the state of North Carolina on Sunday. During his four-year career for Butler High School, the 6-2 point guard averaged 17.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.5 steals per game.

Despite missing several weeks due to injury his senior season, Stitt led Butler to the Southwestern 4A tournament title. He averaged 24 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and six steals per game and was named first-team All-State as a result of his efforts. Most recently, he was named Co-Player of the Year in Mecklenburg County and first-team All-Area by the Charlotte Observer. He is scheduled to play in the Charlotte Pro-Am All-Star Classic this weekend.

Clemson's other signees for the 2007-08 season, Terrence Oglesby (Cleveland, TN) and Jerai Grant (Hyattsville, MD), played last week in the Capital Classic in Washington, DC. Oglesby earned All-Tournament honors after scoring 20 points, while Grant posted a double-double, as the two played on opposite sides in the 34th annual all-star clash.
