Basketball Routs Hartford, 78-48

Uncasville, CT - The University of Hartford men's basketball learn fell to 2-10 on the season with a 78-48 non-conference loss to Clemson University tonight at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. The Tigers improve to 9-4 on the season with the win. The Hawks trailed 31-23 at the half and shot just 27 percent from the floor during the first half. The Tigers, who trailed 16-15 midway through the half, used a 9-0 run to rake a 24-I6 lead. Clemson outscored Hartford 16-7 in the final seven minutes of the first half. Sophomore Ryan Stys led the way for the Hawks with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting in the first stanza. He had five of Hartford's seven baskets in the half. The Tigers outscored the Hawks 22-12 in the first 12 minutes of the second half hitting eight of their first 15 shots from the floor to take a 53-35 lead. The Hawks hit just four of 15 shots during that same stretch. The lead hit 20 at 57- 37 with 6:14 left in the half on a running lay-up from Clemson's Tony Stockman. Clemson outscored Hartford 47-25 in the second half to earn the 78- 48 victory. The Hawks were led by Stys who finished with 12 points and Amour who added seven points and four rebounds. The Tigers were led by Ray Henderson who had 13 points. Chris Hobbs added 12 points and Stockman and Sharrod Ford each had 10 in the win. The Tigers are back in action on Wednesday, January 2 when they take on Yale at Littlejohn.
