Clemson’s 2013 recruiting class will more than likely get a boost this weekend from 2013 defensive back Marcus Edmond.

Edmond, out of Hopkins (SC) Lower Richland, is rated as the No. 12 prospect in the state according to Rivals, and has been committed to N.C. State since last June.

However, former Wolfpack secondary coach Mike ReedMike Reed

now coaches for the Tigers, and he made the trek down to Columbia to make an offer to Edmond, who will make the trip to the Upstate this weekend for an official visit to Clemson.

flipped last weekend – and he made the offer to Edmond this past Sunday.

“Coach Reed came in and he explained how he wanted me to come to Clemson with him,” Edmond said. “I had always wanted to go to Clemson. I love the history and the atmosphere there.”

’s high school camp last June.

“They have great coaches, and I like the campus,” he said. “I know they have a lot of history, and this was an offer I was waiting on.”

Edmond said he would “probably” commit to the Tigers during the weekend visit. He will be joined by his parents.

Edmond played mostly quarterback last season and passed for 1,230 yards and 14 touchdowns and rushed for 858 yards and 10 touchdowns. He had 48 tackles, 14 assists, four interceptions and four passes broken up on defense. As a junior, he had 33 tackles, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries and returned one interception 94 yards for a touchdown.
