made every day in prep school count and today his mission is accomplished.

After completing his exams at Hargrave Military Academy late last week, Lawson- the nation’s number one prep school recruit and former Daniel High School standout- has been waiting to receive word from the NCAA on his eligibility and his phone finally rang Monday afternoon.

Brad Scott called Lawson shortly after lunchtime and said the words that he’s waited a lifetime to hear.

“Coach Scott just called me and said, ‘Congratulations, you’re finally a Tiger!’ I knew right when he said ‘Congratulations’ that I was finally going to be a Clemson Tiger,” Lawson told TigerNet.

After spending a semester at Hargrave, he said that his time in prep school felt like an entire year.

“It feels really good,” Lawson said. “I had to go to Hargrave for what feels like a whole year. It feels so good to finally be home and to be a Tiger.”

Lawson began his journey to become a Tiger last year only to be told that he didn’t qualify after classes had started in August, but he said that having to wait only made him appreciate being a Tiger even more.

“If was kind of hard at first,” Lawson said. “I had to fight hard every day to succeed and to make it through prep school. I learned to appreciate hard work and to make every day count.”

Lawson said he is excited to get on campus and start classes.

“I will be on campus sometime later this afternoon and I will start classes tomorrow,” Lawson said. “I’m not totally sure who I’ll be living with, but I think it will be Martin AikenMartin Aiken
