On this day of Thanksgiving, I thought I would put the rivalry aside for a little while and talk about the things for which I am truly thankful.
I am thankful-
for my wonderful family, my wife, and my two beautiful children.
that I live in the greatest country the world has ever known.
for the holiday season and getting to spend time with friends and family.
for my Clemson heritage dating back to my great grandfather's graduation in 1912.
I am thankful-
for Tillman Hall, Bowman Field, and Thomas Greene Clemson,
for The Hill, The Rock, The Paw, and Death Valley,
for falls in Pickens county.
for sunsets over Lake Hartwell.
for the orange a purple skies that frequently surround Memorial Stadium.
I am thankful-
that it's Rivalry Week.
that I don't trail my arch rival 65-40-4 in the all time series.
that the last time our rival led the series in wins was November 11, 1897.
that 63-17 still resonates almost ten years later.
that I don't have a coach who puts himself before his players.
that I don't have to yell, "Go Cocks!"
that my stadium is on a beautiful campus.
that I have a football national title and that I don't have to celebrate my conference members' titles.
that my team has an entrance that is unique and wasn't contrived during the ESPN era. It's what we call a tradition.
that I don't celebrate being in 5th place.
that when someone mentions Clemson there is no question as to which university they are talking about.
that I have a ferocious mascot and not a barnyard bird.
that 5 years of good football is not all I have to talk about.
that Dabo SwinneyDabo Swinney Head Coach View Full Profile has coached Clemson to as many 10 win seasons in four years as our rivals have EVER had.
that this Saturday the longest Gamecock winning streak since the late 60's will come to an end.
Most off all I'm thankful that I am a Clemson Tiger!
