The Tigers already have commits from several solid defensive ends and the addition of Pagano - a 6-3, 280-pounder of Honolulu (HI) Moanalua – helps begin the process of rebuilding in the middle of the line.
Pagano told TigerNet that he almost didn’t make the trip to Clemson last weekend for the All In Cookout because he was tired from a week of visits that included LSU, Alabama and Florida.
“To be honest, I didn’t even want to go to Clemson,” Pagano said. “I was just too tired. My mom was like, ‘Scotty, I am telling you, this is the school for you.’ And we made it up there, and it was unbelievable. I had a great time on Friday, and then we went back on Saturday for a tour. It is so well-structured there, and they set you up for success. I went back on Sunday, and I told them I would be playing ball for them.”
Pagano said Swinney had a more than positive reaction.
“He told he was so fired up that he could do cartwheels and hug my neck,” he said.
Pagano said that he wanted to go ahead and make his announcement because he knew Clemson was the place he wanted to play.“I just had to wait so long to announce, and to make a decision, and I knew it was the right time,” he said. “I knew Clemson was the school for me.”
Pagano is rated as the sixth-best defensive in the 2013 recruiting class by Rivals, which also has him as the No. 104-rated player overall.
Pagano had around 50 offers, and said he was pleased to be a part of a great recruiting class at Clemson.
“To have a guy like Robert Nkemdiche
