Knoxville, TN View Full Profile, Jr. of Knoxville's Webb School was on the Clemson campus this past weekend, and the the 2014 prospect says he thinks an offer might come as early as this summer.
The 5-11, 180-pounder is drawing interest from Clemson, Alabama, Duke, Virginia Tech and Tennessee. Tennessee is also where his dad - Todd Kelly, Sr. - played from 1989-92 and played in the NFL from 1993-97.
Kelly says however, that Tennessee isn't necessarily a lock if they offer.
"I am making my own way, definitely," he told TigerNet Monday. "There is no question that my dad bleeds orange, but he understands that this is my life and my decision and that I want to take my own route and he knows I may end up somewhere else. I think all of the colleges are about even right now."
He said he enjoyed his weekend in Clemson.
"It was awesome I really enjoyed it. I loved the coaching staff. They were excellent, and they emphasized academics, and I thought that was outstanding. That really stood out to me. It was a good experience for me. I talked to my recruiter, Marion Hobby, and the secondary coach [Charlie Harbison]. They told me they want me to come back for camp, and they will probably offer me then if they are interested in me."
As a sophomore this past season, Kelly made sophomore of the year in Tennessee and all-state. He posted 65 tackles including 45 solo, one interception, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble and four tackles for loss. He also had 72 rushes for 778-yards and 13 touchdowns.
