This is the first high school football season in which Western New York has had two players verbally committed to major college programs months before their season started.
On Thursday night, their high school careers will come to an end ... in a championship game ... against each other.
There will certainly be two outstanding teams taking the field at Ralph Wilson Stadium at 6 p.m. when St. Joe's meets St. Francis for the Monsignor Martin Association championship game, but there is no denying the accomplishments and importance of each squad's top player.

Kelly 101: The 6-foot-3, 215-pound returning first-team All-Western New Yorker is the nephew of Buffalo Bills pro football Hall of Famer Jim Kelly. He has great arm strength and touch as well as great running ability. He chose Clemson over a who's who of college football powers. Last week he set the Western New York single-season mark for passing (2,842) and the MMA career mark (5,001) despite playing only two varsity seasons
