My grandfather grew up outside Greenville SC, attended Clemson, played football and graduated as an EE about 1900. I grew up in Indiana and basketball was our game. I wasn't that good but loved to play. We moved to Texas half way through my soph year in high school. The athletes were football players in Texas so I was captain of my hs basketball team. I went to college at T C U where I was a walkon. I was a practice player that helped the team in practice but never got in a varsity game. My senior year 1968 our team won the Southwest Conference and went to the Final 8 in the ncaa, the farthest any T C U team has ever gone and I was proud to be part of that. While in college I completed my Marine plc training at Quantico Va and when I graduated served my 3 year military service in the USMC. After that I returned to Fort Worth and went to work for General Electric which is a great company. When I left GE I went through some ups and downs in my business career but wound up with my dad as the rep for Encore Wire down here in the RGV. I had 11 great years and retired about a year and a half ago at the start of 2010 I live in a little town of Palm Valley which is about 1200 people in a neighborhood that surrounds Harlingen Country Club. I serve on our city council and am involved with several organizations that help students get scholarships. I served as president on the board of Soouth Texas College for the electricians program. We set the program up and then had five good years and I have just completed my service with that organization. I follow T C U sports and am also a big Clemson fan and will always root for the Tigers except when they play my Frogs.
