My wife, Wendy (a WVU alum), and I currently live in Knoxville, TN with our Chow, Smokey. Before Clemson, I went to West-Oak High in Westminster, where my family still lives. After graduating from Clemson, I took a job with the Department of Energy in Washington, DC. After moving to several DOE sites around the country (Denver/Golden, Aiken, and Oak Ridge), we finally settled here in the land of the Volunteers. I left DOE in 1997 to pursue a degree in Exercise Science at UT in hopes of one day becoming a strength and conditioning coach. I worked as a Student Assistant in the Lady Volunteers weight room for two years and completed a BS in Exercise Science in 1999. I am also a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength & Conditioning Association.

**Update** After getting "screwed" for a Graduate Assistant postion at UT, I am now working with the Maryville College (Maryville, TN) Men's Basketball team. One more year of graduate school left!

**Update 2** Unfortunately, I had to give up the volunteer position with MC. However, the exercise science dept came through and offered a GTA position, so I am now teaching physical education classes while finishing up. I'm in the job hunting mode as well. Speaking of which, does anyone know of a school in need of a strength & conditioning coach?!?!?!?! :-)

**Update 3** I am now Associate Strength & Conditioning Coach at James Madison Uni.

**Update 4** After spending a year at JMU, I decided to come back to Knoxville, where my wife stayed during this time. I am now volunteering (no pun intended) with the UT Strength and Conditioning staff, working with football and swimming.

**Update 5** After 4+ years as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at the Uni. of TN, I took the job as Head Strength and Speed Coach at the D1 Sports Training facility in Greenville, SC (off of Woodruff Rd.). I thought I'd made my way back home but circumstances dictated otherwise. As a result, I'm back in Knoxville and still with D1.

**Update 6** Things did not work out with D1 so I am now back with the UT Strength & Conditioning staff. The following side note still applies!!

As a side note, if anyone learns of an opening on Coach Batson's staff, PLEASE contact me. I want to make my way back to GOD'S COUNTRY! I know, it's a long shot but it's worth a try! :-)
