UNC talks about defending Clemson this year versus last year

by -

North Carolina head coach Everett Withers told TigerNet Wednesday morning that the game plan in last year's 21-16 UNC win was simple: stop the run.

Withers, speaking on the weekly ACC media teleconference, was asked the differences between last year's Clemson team and this year's team, which is ranked 7-0 and ranked eighth nationally.

"We felt like last year we could really stop the run game," he said. "We felt like we needed to stop the run game, and we didn't feel like we would have a ton of issues in the passing game. They had a number of skills guys - a good running back and a good tight end, but they were the key to their offense last year. This year, they are more spread out, and they have Sammy WatkinsSammy Watkins
