View Full Profile will transfer from Clemson. On Thursday morning, Townsend tweeted that "Clemson Football will always be apart of me!"

Townsend played in 10 games in 2012 with 10 tackles in 28 total snaps. Townsend was ranked as the #5 outside linebacker in the nation by ESPN.com coming out of high school.

Clemson would appear to still have a lot of depth at linebacker:

Seniors - Quandon Christian, Spencer Shuey

Juniors - Tony Steward, Stephone Anthony, Justin Parker

Sophomores - Kellen Jones, B.J. Goodson

Freshmen - T.J. Burrell

Commits - Dorian O'Daniel, Ben Boulware, D.J. Greenlee
