QUICK FACTS
• Clemson and Florida State will meet in the ACC Tournament first round for the first time since 2007, and for the seventh time in the event since the Seminoles joined the league in 1991-92. FSU has won four of the six tournament meetings. In each instance, the winner of the six most recent games in the series heading into the ACC Tournament has lost.
• Three times in the series, a team has swept the two regular season games only to lose in the ACC Tournament when trying for a three-game sweep. Clemson won in 1993 and 2001 to avoid three losses to FSU in a season, while the Seminoles achieved the feat in 2007 after the Tigers had taken the two regular season games.
• The series has been very competitive over the years, and this year was no exception. Though FSU took both games, they were decided by a combined total of eight points. Michael Snaer banked in a three at the buzzer in the Jan. 24 meeting to lift the ‘Noles to a 60-57 victory.
• Florida State holds the overall edge in the series, 33-28. The Seminoles have won the last three after Clemson claimed four of the previous five matchups.
• Clemson is in search of its first ACC Tournament win since 2011, when the Tigers defeated Boston College in the quarterfinals by a score of 70-47. Clemson has lost five of its last six games in the tourney.
• Clemson Head Coach Brad Brownell has a 16-7 record in postseason conference tournament play, including 1-2 with the Tigers.
