View Full Profile said after practice on Thursday that he has approached both Dabo Swinney and Nuk Hopkins about returning punts this season. Watkins said he worked at punt returner with Hopkins at the beginning of last season but eventually Hopkins won the job. According to Watkins, in high school he returned punts only when “there were hard times or in the clutch.”

Watkins said he has told the punt block team that if they will just get two or three blocks it could be a touchdown or the ball on the 50.

Sammy Watkins also said he has dropped a little weight and feels like he is faster and quicker now than last season.
