has won the John Mackey Award. The Mackey Award is named after the former Baltimore Colts and Syracuse great and is presented to the top tight end in college football. Allen was presented the award in Orlando, FL at the Home Depot College Football Awards Show.

"It is a honor and as cliche as it sounds, it is a dream come true," said Allen when accepting the award. "Ever since I found out there was an award that goes out to the nation's top tight end, it's been a personal goal of mine to go out and take it."

In addition to Allen, Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert and Georgia tight end Orson Charles were also finalists for the John Mackey Award.

Allen is the first Clemson tight end to be named a finalist for the John Mackey Award.
