Michael Washington - Defensive Back
Height: 6-3   Weight: 210   Hometown: Allendale, SC (Allendale-Fairfax HS)   Class: 2005

Mike Washington is a safety prospect who has earned offers from both Clemson and South Carolina, but he maybe waiting on an out of state offer.

"Clemson and South Carolina are the only two that have offered right now. I was going to commit in August, but I talked to my Uncle and we both agreed that I was going to have a breakout season, so we will see what happens. When the dead period ends September 1st, I expect I will hear more from a lot of schools."

Washington lists Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Maryland, and NC State as other schools who are showing interest.

Clemson has been in with Washington since after his sophomore year, and he is now being recruited by Ron West. "Clemson offered me when I camped there last season."

Though he is being recruited to play safety, Washington is called upon several times to play corner for his high school. "This summer I have been working on my man to man coverage. When we play a team that has a good receiver, the coaches ask me to cover him, so we can shut him down."

Allendale-Fairfax struggled last season, but Washington expects to bounce back this year. "We are still young this season, but I am expecting we will bounce back in a big way. We have done a good job of getting the young guys in the weight room this summer, so they will be ready to play."

Washington is one of the top 15 players in SC this year, and we will follow his season very closely this fall.
