Last year, there was constant rumors involving Clemson signee Quentez Ruffin. Ruffin disputed rumors all the way to Signing Day, where he signed with Clemson. This year the rumors are swirling around Ricky Sapp.
Sapp is the nation's #1 defensive end prospect, and he has been committed to Clemson since the summer. There was speculation that Sapp visited South Carolina unofficially this weekend. "No, sir. I am not looking at all. I am a Clemson Tiger." Sapp says the atmosphere in Clemson separates it from everywhere else. "I love Death Valley. The fans and the atmosphere is the best. It is kind of out in the country, and I am from country." Sapp took some time to talk about the recruiting process, and what it is like being one of the most sought after players in the country. "At the beginning, you think you would never have a chance to go to all of these places. I am very grateful for everything. God has really blessed me. After awhile though, you get tired of it. I thought when I committed it would all stop, but it hasn't." Sapp has been doing some recruiting for the Tigers, and he has already landed one of his top targets. "I was talking to Jamal Medlin, and I got him. I have also been talking to Clifton Geathers and CJ Spiller trying to get them to come." Sapp has also been working what may very well be the #1 player in South Carolina for 2008, Dequan Bowers. "He's a great kid. I think he might be the best to ever come out of Bamberg. I have been working on him."
