Georgia redshirt freshman OLB Davin Bellamy was arrested at 5:02 AM on Saturday morning for a DUI and speeding according to the Athens jail web site. He was released an hour later on a $2000 bond.
Bellamy is currently the backup at Georgia's OLB position and also has taken snaps at defensive end heading into their fall practice. In the past, coach Mark Richt has implemented a two-game suspension in similar situations. The UGA Athlete Student handbook states that a student athlete to miss 20% of Georgia's season on an arrest. That rule would seem to indicate Bellamy might have to miss the Clemson and South Carolina games. Georgia defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor was arrested earlier in the week for a felony assault and for family violence and was subsequently dismissed from the team. News: Georgia reserve OLB Davin Bellamy arrested on DUI and speeding charges, per Athens jail web site. Georgia's defense this offseason: Five players arrested (one of them twice), three players dismissed, two more transfered, one medical DQ. Would like to apologize to #dawgnation for my immaturity. I have embarrassed myself, my family, & my brothers. I will gain your trust back
