Eli Byrd - Athlete
Height: 6-2   Weight: 179   Hometown: Jacksonville, FL (Fletcher HS)   Class: 2005

It is often we see players that are overshadowed by talented players there junior seasons, but emerge as stars their senior year.

Eli Byrd is a talented quarterback that is looking to emerge this season. "Last season, we had several superstars, and I wasn't asked to separate myself from the pack. This year I will be able to show some schools what I can really do. We have some talented players, but it is on me to carry the load."

Though, Byrd feels like he was overshadowed last year he did make history at Fletcher High School. "I was the first quarterback to ever lead Fletcher to the third round of the playoffs as a Junior."

This summer Byrd attended the Florida camp and the Southeast Combine. "Both went real. We did some agilities, and some 7 on 7 drills. The Southeast Combine went really well."

Byrd is a good decision maker, and he has a good work ethic. "Anything that has to be done. I am going to step up to the challenge and get it done."

This summer he has been working on improving his upper body strength and footwork. Many times fans will get up caught up in star ratings and forty times, but Byrd brings an interesting point to the forefront. "I feel like track speed, and football speed is totally different. I feel like I am a whole lot faster in games than running a forty yard dash."
