The Byrnes Rebels have now won three consecutive state championships. Willy Korn and the Rebels' offense steals most of the headlines, but the Rebels' defense should not be overlooked.

The Rebels' defense is led by linebacker Stanley Hunter. Hunter anchors a solid defense that has played a big role in the state titles.

Hunter awaits his first offer, but he is hearing from Clemson and South Carolina. Tiger Source recruiting analyst Mickey Plyler had the chance to watch Hunter in person this year.

"The most impressive thing about Hunter was his drops. He gets into his drops in coverage very smoothly. Byrnes is normally ahead, and teams are forced to throw the ball, making it difficult to give a fair judgment on his run support. Hunter is a little smaller than the prospects Clemson had on the board last year. Coach Koenning likes the big linebackers, the ones you would need to run a 3-4. Hunter will likely remain on the board through the summer."

If Clemson does offer Hunter, we believe the Tigers would likely move to the front for his services. He is good friends with Willy Korn, and it has been well documented that Korn is an active recruiter for the Tigers.
