John Demps - Linebacker
Height: 6-4   Weight: 225   Hometown: Pensacola, FL (Washington HS)   Class: 2005
ESPN: NR

John Demps knows about having big shoes to fill. He plays at the same high school that Derrick Brooks played at. Demps does not want to be compared to the former NFL Defensive MVP however.

"Derrick Brooks was my role model growing up. I tell people not to compare me with him. Tell me I play like him, but I have too much respect for him to be compared to him."

Demps has cut his options down to six. His final six are as follows: Maryland, Florida State, Miami, LSU, Florida, and Central Florida. Demps shed a little insight to what he liked about each school in his top six.

"LSU has been recruiting me, since my 10th grade year. They were one of the first schools to offer me. I liked the staff and players. I feel very comfortable being around them. Plus, my brother plays at LSU.

Maryland started recruiting me in the spring. I was born in Maryland, so I have a lot of family up there. They have had a good team the last few years.

Florida State is close to home, and my role model went there. I grew up a FSU fan. They have the best coach ever. I have a ton of respect for him as a coach and a person. I love the rivalry games they have.

Florida basically the deal is they are really low on linebackers. It is a good defensive school. They are a national contender that is offering early playing time.

Central Florida came at me first. They basically get first come first serve.

People from my town don't get offered by Miami. It was a big deal to me to get offered by Miami. They are always sending players to the league. They had DJ Williams and Jonathon Vilma both go in the first round last year as linebackers. My coach also went there."
