Clemson’s five-star quarterback commit returned to action this week – and he didn’t disappoint – in leading Cartersville (Ga.) to a 41-7 win in a battle of unbeatens.

Lawrence once again did his part in putting away an opponent early, connecting on 14-of-17 first-half throws with three passing touchdowns. He added another score on the ground to lead Cedartown (Ga.) 38-0 at the half.

The 6-foot-6 No. 1-rated QB totaled over 300 passing yards for a second time this season and has topped 1,500 yards through five games.

Lawrence is completing 71.7 percent of his passes with 15 touchdowns to one interception.

Derion Kendrick – 4-star South Pointe (SC) WR

South Pointe moved to 5-0 under Kendrick’s leadership at quarterback with a 25-0 win over Shelby (NC). Kendrick was an efficient 18-of-23 passing for 241 yards, including a 68-yarder in one of his two touchdown throws. Kendrick is completing 71.2 percent of his throws with 11 passing touchdowns (16 total scores).

Xavier Thomas – 5-star DE; Mike Jones Jr. – 4-star OLB IMG Academy (Fla.)

Playing their first game since Sept. 2 due to weather cancellations, IMG Academy returned to the gridiron in a battle of strong Florida programs. Thomas recovered a fumble for a touchdown on a punt block for second-half momentum, while Jones Jr. helped patrol the second-level in a 24-15 IMG Academy (Fla.) win over Miami Central. Going into the game, Thomas had registered 12 tackles (two for loss) and a sack, while Jones Jr. had 11 stops and four for loss (IMG hasn’t updated stats through three games).

Kyler McMichael – 4-star Greater Atlanta Christian CB

McMichael continued a strong senior campaign in the backfield with three touchdowns – including a 62-yarder – in a 47-7 win over Union County (Ga.). He’s up to seven rushing scores through five games in a 4-1 start for the No. 3-ranked Spartans.

Quick hits: 3-star Lewisville (SC) DT Josh Belk’s Lewisville Lions won 42-14 at Johnson (SC)…3-star DT Darnell Jefferies’ Newton (Ga.) team dropped a second-straight game, 48-17, to Heritage…South Pointe (NC) kicker B.T. Potter hit one extra point in the Stallions’ win…4-star DE Justin Mascoll’s South Gwinnett suffered a tough loss with Hillgrove (Ga.) scoring 10 fourth-quarter points to take a 37-32 win.

Did not play: Daniel (SC) LB Jake Venables (bye), Seneca TE Braden Galloway (out 4-6 weeks with foot injury).
