Clemson, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Virginia and Wake Forest also recruited the 6-foot-7, 327-pound prospect.

Smith posted an electronically-timed 5.99 40-yard dash, 5.57 20-yard shuttle, 21.1-inch vertical and 63.54 SPARQ at the Charlotte Nike Combine in March.

He took an unofficial visit to the Clemson-BC game in 2011. He has visited UNC several times in the past. He took an unofficial visit to Clemson for Elite Junior Day in Jan. 2012.
