"After conversations with members of the N.C. State coaching staff and the 6-foot-2, 195-pound McDaniel, (head coach) Bailey was confident enough that a commitment had been made to alert the local media."

"McDaniel's mother, Tanya Locklear, had different thoughts on the subject Tuesday morning. Locklear called and informed me very politely that her son was not committed to any school. Not Auburn, Clemson or N.C. State, all three of which have verbally made scholarship offers to McDaniel."
