5-star 2018 defensive end Xavier Thomas has Clemson and South Carolina in his final two schools but told ESPN that he might take some other visits.
"I’ll listen and probably take a few visits to out-of-state schools, but most likely I’ll be going to Clemson or South Carolina," Thomas said via ESPN.com. “I’ll probably take visits to Alabama, Ohio State, and Florida State. Thomas likes the fact that Clemson is in back-to-back college football semi-finals and has a tradition of winning and sending defensive players into the NFL. “I like the fact they are winning,” Thomas said of Clemson. “Coach [Dabo] Swinney is doing a great job there and coach [Marion] Hobby with their D-ends and D-linemen he’s gotten to the NFL. They are having a lot of recruiting success. I talked to Trevor Lawrence before he committed, he told me was going there and wanted me to come with him.” Thomas has national offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, South Carolina, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, and Wake Forest. He will transfer from Wilson High School in Florence, S.C. to powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. in January. In 2014, he had 59 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and 8 sacks.
