Watson ranked #1 breakout player in CFB |
Clemson phenom quarterback Deshaun Watson was ranked the
#1 breakout player in college football for the 2015 season according to NFL.com.
The selected established players (not hidden gems) are ten players that are ready to take it to the next level and on the verge of stardom. "In an injury-marred freshman season, Watson missed five games and threw fewer than 10 passes in four others," NFL.com said. "But his stellar play in other action -- from his school-freshman-record six touchdown passes against North Carolina to his gritty effort against ACC champ Florida State -- has Clemson fans hopeful that he will emergence as the best quarterback in the ACC this year. He completed 93 of 137 passes with a 14-2 TD-INT ratio last season, and there is plenty more to come." Watson had a tremendous quarterback rating of 188.57 and a nation's best 10.7 yards per pass attempt. He should be ready to go from his torn ACL for fall practice in August. The only other ACC player was Florida State's offensive tackle Roderick Johnson (#9 overall).
