Watson on possibly being a Heisman finalist

Clemson sophomore quarterback Deshaun Watson was on the ACC media teleconference on Monday and answered a question about the possibility of him being invited to New York as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy Award.

"I always had a goal and a dream to be able to go to New York and be one of those finalists," Watson said. "But I knew it was going to take a lot of work and dedication and just grinding. That's what I've been doing. It hasn't been on my mind throughout the year. I've just been focusing on the team, and I let everything else control itself."

Watson said that he will be fine if he is invited as a finalist or not.

"Right now I'm still doing the same thing. If I get invited, hey, I do. If not, then I keep grinding and grinding hard," Watson said.

Watson had 393 yards of total offense and was responsible for four out of the five total touchdowns against the Gamecocks in a 37-32 win on Saturday.

The three rushing touchdowns and 114 rushing yards against South Carolina were both career highs for Watson.

Watson has completed 261 for 371 for 3223 passing yards with 27 touchdowns and ten interceptions on the season.

He is now 16-1 as a Clemson starter with his only loss when he was injured against Georgia Tech in 2014.
