Watson would like to pick the brain of Lebron James

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson was in attendance as a counselor at the 21st annual Manning Passing Academy at Nicholls State University over the weekend.

NFL reigning MVP quarterback Cam Newton is one of Deshaun Watson's mentors and friend, but there is one other famous athlete that Watson would love to emulate and meet -- 12-time NBA All-Star Lebron James.

Watson had a strong feeling that James would discover a way to come back from the Warriors' daunting 3-1 deficit in the NBA finals.

"I told people back at school who were telling me the series was over, ‘LeBron will turn up.’ Go back and see my tweets ... it was great to see them come back," Watson said via Jarrett Bell of USA TODAY.

Watson admires James' preparation, work ethic, and determination to be the best in the world.

"He’s a warrior, a game-changer,” he said. "He just wants to be the greatest. And that’s my mindset. I don’t really care about the fame, the money. I just want to be the greatest I can be at this position.”

James won the 2016 NBA Championship and finished the season averaging 25.3 points, 6.8 assists, and 7.4 rebounds per game.

For his career, he is averaging 27.2 points, 6.9 assists, and 7.2 rebounds per game.
