Watson named to ESPN ACC Helmet Sticker Award |
Clemson sophomore quarterback
Deshaun Watson was
awarded an ESPN ACC helmet sticker for leading his team to a 37-32 victory over rival South Carolina on Saturday.
"Another week, another helmet sticker for Clemson’s superstar," ESPN said. "Watson carried the Tigers past South Carolina in a game when the rest of the team played some of its sloppiest football of the season. A year after toppling the Gamecocks on a torn ACL, Watson had a career-high 20 carries and three rushing touchdowns and topped 380 yards of total offense for the fifth straight game. Perhaps most significant, Watson converted nine of the 11 third-down plays in which he carried or threw the ball." Watson had 393 yards of total offense and was responsible for four out of the five total touchdowns against the Gamecocks. He is now 16-1 as a Clemson starter with his only loss when he was injured against Georgia Tech in 2014. The three rushing touchdowns and 114 rushing yards against South Carolina were both career highs for Watson.
