Watkins dominates 100M, 200M at regionals

According to the Naple News:

"“I just want to get my fastest times, see what I can really run, what I’m capable of getting,” the South Fort Myers senior said Thursday night after winning the 100 and 200-meter sprint events in record times.

Watkins, a Clemson football recruit, ran a 10.50 in the 100 and a 21.2 in the 200. He was also part of the winning 4x400 relay team, helping South to a fourth overall team finish."

Watkins was simply happy he did better than last week at the district meet.

“Last week was all right,” he said. “I keep breaking my PR every week. I just broke it today. I’m all right, but I just need someone to push me the whole race, then I can run a lower time.”

If challenged, Watkins believes he can run a 20.4 or 20.5 in the 200.
